Thami in memoriam | This project of dbproduction, WINGMAN EP, is dedicated to our dear friend Thami Uijterlinde (25) who tragically lost his life aboard MH17.

Thami was a larger than life character, an intensely social person who had a wide group of friends that stretched the world over. He was born in Amsterdam, son to a Dutch mother and a South African father. From an early age Thami displayed an inherent talent for music. This talent began to flourish in his teenage years as Thami developed formidable skills as a rapper and beat producer. With three other friends he formed the group “Bende van Ellende” who released their debut album “Vrije Geest” in 2009. The same year, Thami begun studying composition and music production at the Utrecht School of Arts. Here he started pushing his creative boundaries and developing his musical abilities beyond the confinements of hip hop. Thami’s musical interests were eclectic and wide ranging; from hip hop and reggae to jazz and Latin music. Within this context Thami was in the process of defining his own personal style. He was set to release his debut EP later this year but sadly it was not to be.

Before Thami left Amsterdam we agreed to work together on dbproduction’s first EP. We are deeply saddened that we will never get the chance to fulfill this plan. Our first EP is therefore dedicated to Thami, a humble gesture to a great friend, a talented artist and a one of a kind person.

Thami was an inspiration to those who knew him, he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
